hi Graeme,
Looked up the Plaza a few quick notes, kids are now allowed, there is a disabled lift and the pub is no longer owned by wetherspoons. It is now owned by L&E Inns.
thanks

Thank you for this update which has now been added to this site. I ate there again at the end of September with some friends and it was just as good as I remembered it. I hope to visit it again sometime.
Just an idea - what about commenting on disabled access?? FANTASTIC web site - keep it up !! Louise, North Tynside
Have you considered a scoring system? Maybe you could have a league table and an award at the end of a set period of time. Just a thought.

Scoring systems of this kind of service will always be subjective, and I wonder how you get star ratings for hotels. What measure are they using ? A pub could score quite highly on the service and food, yet fall down because of a lack of disabled access. Conversely, the pub may have good disabled access, but the garlic bread has a strange taste. A scoring system would hide those. As far as leagues are concerned, they seem more appropriate to sports where a team can go up and down, depending on continuing performance, rather than a one off visit. As far as awards are concerned, with the concept of guest reviews, you would have to have a committee of those submitting reviews, all having to visit all the pubs, and some form of adjudication. This can get messy, or so it seems to me.
Love the site, keep up the good work. Have you ever considered taking along one of your "lady-friends" to the reviews and getting a female perspective on the food and pub cleanliness etc. Your web-site seems to be aimed mainly at the male population but I suspect a large portion of the female community also like a good pub meal (after all its them who normally cook the meals at home and it would do them good to get out once in a while). I am afraid I am not on familiar terms with any single female to take along on a review. I think I am destined to gather dust on the shelf in that respect. The point about a male bias is well made, all I can say is that I would welcome guest reviews from women as well as men, or even joint reviews. (Please see the criteria I use and read the submission guidelines)
Hi if anyone enjoyes a good Quiz before or after their meal please get your landlord to get in touch with me Thank you (2nd September 2000)

This site is not really dedicated to pub quizzes, but as they are part of British culture, this letter is published to enable others of a like mind to take up this offer.

When I do the menu section, I do try to mention the many sections on it. Sometimes I will get a copy of the menu and scan it and put it on the site. (If anyone submitting a guest review wishes to do like wise please save it in jpeg format). The size of pub should be hinted at in the description or Ambience section. BTW I vaguely remember visiting the Powder Monkey some years ago.
